vanessa, i agree w/ u at first about knowledge being power, but ideas can be dangerous even without being in the wrong hands. if someone has an idea it might threaten society or a specific branch of power so then the ideas are still considered dangerous. also, reading old books allows us to see the perspective of the past, but we are not in the past so the past perspectives do not, in most cases, count in the modern world.
in this case i agree. when some one gets to where they think their done then tis is totally justified. when Lennie is killed gorge is doing him a favor because curly would have done it in a humiliating way.
when i am trying to be responsible for my brothers i cant be responsible for someone else and it is just overwhelming
